In hopes of sharing some knowledge on the 3R's, "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle", with the children at Bethel Preschool, our team has prepared several exciting activities for them to get involved in!

First and foremost, we have an Arts and Crafts activity planned, during which, under the careful supervision of our group members, children will be taught to assemble a pencil holder from a recycled plastic bottle. Using colour papers and other decorative items, the children can customize their very own pencil holders, which they can keep. This activity allows the children to learn the art of recycling - a seemingly insignificant trash can be transformed into something functional and beautiful!

Next, we have a puppet show planned, for which we will be using hand-made puppets to act out the content in two children’s storybooks, “Responsible Roy” and “Stubborn Stacy”. These storybooks demonstrate and aim to impart values on the importance of taking care of our planet, by keeping it clean and green. Through the use of our props and captivating storytelling skills, we hope to give children at the preschool a chance to learn more about the environment in an interactive and enriching manner!

Lastly, we have planned a game called “Throw your trash!”, which comprises of 3 stations - Separating Trash, Finding Trash, Throwing Trash. ‘Finding Trash’ - the children in each team will have to search for all the pieces of trash, which will be hidden in the school’s playground. ‘Separating Trash’ will include a memory game, working together to uncover all matching pairs of pieces of trash as quickly as possible. The children will then have to sort out trash into 4 categories - Cans, Paper, Plastic and General Waste. Finally, for ‘Throwing Trash’, the children will attempt to throw recycled items into these 4 trash cans. This game aims to teach the children that littering is something that should not be done as it will harm the environment. Also, by making recycling a fun activity for the children, we hope to make a positive reinforcement about picking up rubbish, and inculcate a habit of recycling in the children!
