about csi 2016

On 25 May 2016, Cedar Girls' Secondary School held its inaugural Cedar Social Innovation (CSI). It was a day when the entire school came together for a common purpose – to implement social innovation.

Over the last four years, teachers and students have always been engaged in social innovation as part of the school experience. Teachers guide students to identify and empathise with the needs of the community. They then translate their understanding of the needs of the community into innovative ideas and solutions that address them. As such, CSI is a natural culmination of the emphasis placed on social innovation by the school.

The theme for the 2016 CSI was Connecting Communities. Teachers and students had worked on social innovation projects in the following areas:

Level 1: Play for Children

Level 2: Kindness

Level 3: Elderly

Level 4: Environment

2016 CSI turned out to be an amazing experience for both our students and staff and many have expressed that they learnt and grown much in the process.

None of these would not have been possible without our community partners. The school would like to thank our community partners for their generosity, patience and willingness to work with the students and staff of Cedar Girls' Secondary School.

We look forward to planning the next CSI and hope it will be another great experience!
