Ciyuan Community Club: Ideas and Innovation

Our class has planned a series of events for the elderly to experience, namely organising a mini carnival for them and inviting a Chinese opera group down to perform for them.

When brainstorming for ideas to carry out for our class CSI, ideas like bringing the elderly on fieldtrips to look at the flowers at Gardens By the Bay and bringing them on a journey around Singapore were brought up. However, we decided to choose to carry out a carnival for the elderly, and invite a Chinese opera troop down as our finalised project for our class CSI.

We feel that this benefits the community that our class is serving as the activities we organised can help to create a more inclusive environment for the elderly as that was our main aim. Also, through the carnival, we would get to interact with the elderly. Lastly, the Chinese opera performance might appeal to the elderly as this would be something that they are familiar with :)

Some preparations that we have done so far is going down to the organisation to check out the location, as well as inviting the three students that will be performing with the Chinese opera troop, down to join the troop in their practice. In fact, it just so happens that recently on the 10th of April, Sunday, three of our classmates went down to the organisation to join the Chinese opera troop in their practice!!
