CSI Day with 1C!

The day finally arrived. Five months of preparation and the girls of Class 1C were all geared up to teach the K2 children of PAP Community Foundation (Geylang Serai Branch) all about kindness. The girls worked efficiently together to set up the event space, which was held in a covered open-air area just outside the childcare centre. Understanding that they had to manage 40 children who were separated into five groups of eight, several girls attached themselves to the children groups so that they can look after them throughout the activities. Some girls also took on the roles of timekeepers, to ensure that each activity is conducted in an efficient and timely manner, and to assist the girls managing the children groups to better bring the children around the various activities.

The principal of PAP Community Foundation was very impressed with the smooth execution of the event. She also noticed how several students were able to engage successfully with the young children, and teach them about kindness. Overall, she thought that the goal of the event was achieved.

For the class, it was an eye opener seeing their months of hard work come to fruition. They were delighted at how the children responded positively to them, and how some of the children could not bear to leave the older girls. Not only were they sitting on the laps of some girls during the finale activities, they also gave numerous tight hugs. The girls were all feeling very touched by these gestures. Most importantly, they learnt that it is not difficult to reach out and play a part in contributing back to the community. They also learnt that young children are not that challenging to handle after all.
