Building Empathy
We went down to Kopitiam Square in Sengkang which is a hawker centre. When we visited there, we interviewed cleaners working there and also members of the public on their views on the cleaners. We aim to not only spread awareness about the hard work of the cleaners, we would also like to get the public to appreciate their efforts and thank them.
Ideas and Innovation
There are 3 parts to our project. One of them is giving out tissue paper to the public with notes and pasting posters on the tables at the hawker centre to spread awareness and encourage kind acts like placing one’s tray back. In addition, we decided to have an exhibition at the community centre to educate the oublic on the tough jobs the cleaners experience when cleaning up after our tables. The second part is to get the general public to write notes of gratitude to the cleaners, The third segment is to prepare little bags of some daily essentials that they might need like band aids, snacks and bottled water, along with cards of hand-written appreciation written by the public and hand it to the cleaners working at Kopitiam Square. So far we have received sponsorship from CloverSoft, a tissue paper company. We hope we can receive more agreements from other companies to sponsor us.
