What is the organization/community that your class is serving?
Caring for the elderly is very crucial, especially for us Singaporeans as they are the pioneer generation who have played a very important role in shaping today’s Singapore. For this year’s Cedar Social Innovation (CSI), we, class 3A, are serving O'Joy Care Services. O'Joy Care Services was founded in 2004 to address this need for early intervention in case of mental health disorders and to promote healthy ageing among older persons. O'Joy believes more in prevention and thus provides counselling services, and active ageing programmes to enhance the wellbeing of older persons.
What are their needs?
O’Joy Care Services needs a party to help them promote their activity to the new residents around the area. Since their target audience is the elderly, the organisation faces some trouble getting many participants to join all the activities. The organisation currently does not engage in many efforts to publicise their event and relies on word-of-mouth. Hence, our class hopes to be able to help them in terms of encouraging more people to participate through promoting the event in several different ways as we strongly believe in the organisation’s aims and missions.
