My First Skool (Potong Pasir)

For our CSI project, we are going to My First Skool in Potong Pasir! This is a rather unique school as their school compound is separated across two blocks and is quite spacious and nice. We visited the location on the 4th of February and had a chance to learn more about their needs.

This is what the K1 group has in mind after visiting the organization:

After the interview we had with the principal and teacher from K2, our group realized that they were not very exposed to many character and moral values at their age. Thus, our theme for CSI project is mainly about introducing values in a more formalized manner. During our planning, our group thought of many different activities including moral values like follow the leader, dog and bone, parent’s appreciation card and storytelling. Some character values we can learn are leadership skills, sportsmanship, gratitude towards their parents and others. We hope that the organization will enjoy our activities and learn new things from them.

For the K2 group, they had the following thoughts in mind:

From the visit to My First Skool, we have made some observations. We could not help but to notice that some of them seem like they are not included in the activities with their fellow classmates, especially those who seem more expressive. Although these students are not the majority, we can empathize with them and we wish to improve their interpersonal skills. We have planned games to help with class bonding such as Simon says and bouncing balls. Next, we have more passive activities such as story-telling to let them learn more about confidence and resilience. These stories aim to inspire the children to be more inclusive. To conclude our trip, we really enjoyed spending time with them and getting to know their needs better.
